A Sarong is a garment consisting of a long piece of cloth worn wrapped around the body and tucked at the waist or under the armpits, traditionally worn in Southeast Asia and now also by women in the West.
The fabric often has woven plaid or checkered patterns, or may be brightly colored by means of batik or Thai dye. Many modern sarongs have printed designs, often depicting animals or plants. Different types of sarongs are worn in different places in the world.
