I had
a most wonderful experience just last month; June, 2005. Before leaving home, I had found ChiangMaiCraft via a Google search and received information back from Barry Hope explaining just what it is that they offer, in so far, as shopping assistance. Upon my arriving in Chiang Mai I made contact with Barry and arranged a shopping trip with him for $50.00, in which he promised transportation, introduction to various factories and shops, and bargaining/translation expertise. It is with great pleasure that I say he was able to bring all of these things to quite satisfactory and successful completion. Transport is in a very nice Ford Ranger (with quite enough room for any purchases). After determining just what it was that I was interested in purchasing we visited at least 12 factories and shops. I was able to find everything that I was interested in and with Barry's guidance (based on my stated interests) found and ultimately purchased other products, as well. Barry is well known and seemingly well liked by the proprietors of these outlets and I must say that his proficiency of the local Thai Customs and language was well worth the price by itself. And, his knowledge of quality and pricing of products is well beyond that tariff. After a day of browsing and conversation I left Barry with my purchases and went on with my touring of Thailand and Cambodia. Upon my return home I found an e-mail with all pertinent shipping cost details for which I paid for via Thaiepay (a secure on-line payment service) and am now patiently awaiting the arrival of 3 boxes of items. I chose the slow boat approach, but much faster options are available at higher costs, of course. It should also be said that I happen to be a totally blind man from the USA, which I did not mention to Barry on the outset, but he fell right in with any and all nuances of assistance that may have been necessary. With all of the above said I am very proud to issue high commendation for Barry Hope and ChiangMaiCraft and anticipate further interaction with both. Thank you. George B Gray, Miami, Florida. USA |
